How Registration Works
When you register a .uk name through Juicy Domains, the registration itself is made with Nominet – the official registry that runs all .uk domains. We act as your registrar and the administrative contact for the name.
Importantly, the domain is registered in your details, not ours. It belongs to you for as long as you keep it renewed. Because the registration is in your name, it’s up to you to make sure the details you give us are accurate and kept up to date.
Registering a domain gives you the right to use it for the period you’ve paid for – nothing more, nothing less. If a name isn’t renewed, it goes through a suspension period and can eventually be released, at which point anyone can register it.
Pricing
A .uk registration or renewal with us normally costs £10 a year. If we ever need to change our pricing, we’ll tell you before the new price applies – you’ll never be caught out. Moving a domain away to another registrar is completely free.
Renewals
Keeping a domain renewed is ultimately your responsibility, but we do our best to make it easy. Where we can, we send a reminder around 30 days before your domain expires, and another around 7 days before.
Email isn’t perfect, though, and we can’t promise every reminder will land in your inbox. The best protection is simple: keep your contact details with us current, and note your renewal date somewhere you’ll see it.
Transferring Your Domain
Your domain is yours to move. Under Nominet’s transfer rules you can switch to a different registrar at any time, for any reason, and we don’t charge a penny for outgoing transfers.
Our Liability
We’re not liable for losses that come from a domain lapsing because it wasn’t renewed, from problems caused by third-party services, or from steps Nominet takes under its own policies. If we are ever found liable for something, our liability is capped at the fees you paid for the domain concerned.
Disputes
Any dispute about who is entitled to a .uk name is dealt with through Nominet’s Dispute Resolution Service (DRS), following its published rules. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
